I feel like I need a T-Shirt that says #ISurvivedTheFlight because it was long and grueling.
When we got to hour 6 of 14, I was thinking, oh, this is a breeze and not too bad. I can totally handle this. And I did handle it, so to say. But let me tell you, it was a tough one. Regardless of how difficult the actual flight was, I had a very interesting and exciting experience while on the plane!
Hour 1: I sit next to this lovely young woman, and we really just hit it off. She spoke English, though she was from Taiwan. Very friendly, very nice. It was awesome and super refreshing!
Hour 2: Food. So we finally got some food. I called in ahead of time and let them know I was a vegetarian, so I got a special meal. It was curry, collared greens and rice with some rye bread and green tea ice cream. The ice cream was AMAZING! Super yummy. The other stuff was as well, but I really did like the ice cream.
Hour 3: They pass around tons of Chinese tea. I love this! My new friend and I are gossiping about differences between our two countries. Again.... she was so SO sweet.
Hour 4: All the tea has gone through everyone that drank it and every bathroom had a line. That's good though, because I needed a good stretch. I got my friend into my favorite movie, Forrest Gump, because it was on the plane. She watched it in Chinese and I watched it in English. That was a cool moment.
Hours 5-12. This was the time I attempted to sleep. I thought I could do it, but my body was getting restless and exhausted. Yet, no sleep came. I tried to watch Inside Out. Kind of worked. At one point, I took melatonin because I was over being tired and uncomfortable. In this time frame, I slept about 4 hours,
Hour 13: We got another meal. It was an attempt at breakfast. Because of me being vegetarian, it was pretty much the same as lunch. I wasn't really hungry for it.
Hour 14: We landed! I saw land, and praised how beautiful it looked from above. The customs line took an hour... but it's okay. I FINALLY MADE IT!
Some other cool things that happened...
When leaving San Fran, I saw the golden gate bridge from above! It was beautiful!
This new friend was so wonderful, and made sure I got to the hotel bus correctly. People in Taiwan can be incredibly friendly, I can already tell.
I get up very early for my train tomorrow morning. So, soon to bed.
I just ordered room service and got a pizza. Somehow, it still tastes sort of Asian.... But VERY good.
When I got out of the airport and realized that there was barely any english anywhere, I did have a moment of culture shock. Never the less.... it was amazing!! I did speak some chinese to the bus driver and the hotel manager!
Here are some pictures from the day/two days! I skipped Leap Day... so Its felt like one day... but it's actually been two!!
This is at Dulles... taking off!!!
My first view of Rocky Mountains!!!
About to depart from San Francisco!
The Golden Gate Bridge
First meal on the flight!
It went pretty quickly. It was very good.
Second meal. Wasn't my fave, but no complaints!
Departing Dulles!!
Me and my new friend, Joyce!
My dinner tonight....
So, overall, it's been a pretty cool couple of days. I'm really ready to get on the train in the morning, and head to Kaohsiung and start my time at Shu-Te University!! Everything has been amazing so far, and I can't wait to continue the journey!

Not All Those Who Wander, Are Lost
Hello world, from San Francisco!
This morning, I began the journey on my way to Taiwan!! It was incredibly exciting. My first leg of the trip was 6 hours, which wasn't too bad. I'm currently waiting at my gate to board the plane headed for Taipei.
I'm currently taking lots of videos and pictures, mostly on my iPad, and I can't wait to share them on here! I've never been farther west than New Mexico, so seeing the Rocky Mountains and being in California is actually pretty cool. I never realized how big those mountains were. You read about them in school, but until you fly over them, you don't realize how big they are!
So, I'm looking forward to many, many things on this trip. As I eat my vegetarian sandwich at 10am Pacific time, I tell you readers everything.
1) I'm actually so excited to go to school there.
2) I'm so excited to go on the HSR
3) I'm really excited to try the food, and experience the culture.
4) Learning more mandarin in a very applied setting.
Now.... I'm not too excited about....
1) Jet Lag
2) Jet Lag
3) Jet Lag.
The time difference from Winchester is 13 hours. So basically, when it's nighttime in America, It's morning there and vise versa. I took a sleeping pill for the flight here to San Fran, to see if my body would slightly adjust to what it's supposed to. I did sleep most of the flight over here. It was glorious. Now, i'm just playing the waiting game. Im looking forward to having DECENT airline food, getting this 14 hours over with, and just starting this experience full on!
Thanks to all who have read, followed, contributed to my life in any way... I couldn't do this without y'alls support.
ONWARD TO TAIWAN!! <3 <3

5 DAYS AWAY!!
Hello world!
In 5 days, I leave for Taiwan for 15 days! Or... at least I think it's 15 days. Between the date changes, I'm not actually sure how long i'll be gone. It's either 14 or 15 days.
Everything is going really well! I've been in constant contact with Shin I and Neon and we have some cool plans brewing. I don't want to give too much away. You'll just have to read this blog and see where i'll be!
A couple days ago, I got very nervous about leaving. I mean, I'm going to an asian country on my own, and no one has done this exchange before. It's a totally new thing. That's what makes it exciting and nerve wracking at the same time. I went to talk to Jonathan about it, because he's the only person I knew at school that had been to the school before. Let me tell you, I'm so lucky to be going on this trip and to have Jonathan as a teacher. He really eased my mind. My anxiety turned into genuine excitement. Now, I'm just ready to get on this plane and GO!!
Currently, I'm finishing up my time as Dance Captain for the musical City of Angels, packing, and finishing up a couple last minute things here before I leave. There isn't too much left on the list. It's getting shorter by the day.
My packing list has varied a little bit! It's going to be very warm there, considering i've been in the winter up here in Virginia. I am bringing sandals, some shorts, as well as a couple pairs of jeans. I have all my dance shoes packed, and my song book will be packed tomorrow once i've finished my lesson with my Shenandoah teacher tomorrow. I've stolen a sweatshirt from my best friend, so I've got that too. I'm trying to be smart on my packing, but i'm very notorious for over packing. I'm trying my best!
More than anything. I'm just ready to get this SHOW ON THE ROAD!!! Keep updated on this blog. I'll be posting soon about leaving!
Taiwan doesn't know what's about to hit them! <3
